Duncan Art is a working framing and restoration bench in the Friarton Road workshop area on the south side of Perth, Scotland. Simple framing can usually be discussed during opening hours. Restoration consultations are by appointment because the picture needs room, light and Alasdair’s full attention.

Duncan Art Framing & Restoration

Friarton Road workshop area, south Perth. The door number is address-by-appointment only so wet, mouldy or actively flaking work can be isolated before it reaches the bench.

There is no phone at the bench. Email is checked through the working day and gives Mairi room to keep measurements, photographs and collection notes with the job book.

How To Visit

Make The Trip Useful

Parking And Timing

Email first for the exact door and parking directions in the Friarton Road workshop area. There is usually easier short-stay loading near the unit than in the city centre, but large glazed work still needs a clear arrival time. The easiest visits are often mid-morning after the first collections have cleared or mid-afternoon before school traffic. Saturdays are good for straightforward collections, not long restoration decisions.

What To Bring

Bring the artwork, any old frame parts, labels, notes from the back and a rough idea of where it will hang. For several pictures, number them with paper slips rather than sticky labels on the work.

Large Or Fragile Work

Wrap large works in clean dry cotton or bubble wrap with the bubbles facing out. Carry broken glass flat and keep shards away from the image. Damp or mouldy work should be emailed first.

FAQ

Small Practical Questions

Do I Need An Appointment?

Not for simple framing during opening hours. Restoration consultations are by appointment, usually Tuesday or Thursday mornings.

Can I Bring Several Pictures?

Yes. If there are more than six, email first so Mairi can leave enough counter time and keep the job book straight.

Do You Sell Ready-Made Frames?

The workshop sometimes has simple ready-width timber options, but it is not a rack shop. Most work is cut and built for the picture.

Can You Repair Broken Glass?

Yes. Reglazing with 2mm float glass starts from £28 for small frames. UV acrylic starts from £62. Keep broken glass away from the artwork when bringing it in.

Can You Value A Painting?

No. Duncan Art does not provide valuation, authentication or insurance-loss certificates. Ask an auctioneer, valuer or insurer for that work.
