Bespoke picture framing

Bring The Picture. We Will Work Out The Frame.

Most framing decisions make sense only when the print, paper, canvas or photograph is on the bench. We price the materials, show the corners against the work and write the job before anything is cut.

Materials

Plain Workshop Choices

Timber Mouldings

We keep practical oak, ash, black, white and narrow stained timbers, then order wider mouldings when the picture needs more shoulder. A small watercolour does not need to be bullied by a heavy frame. A large oil on canvas often does.

Mount Board And Backing

Works on paper are mounted with acid-free board as the starting point. Better paper, family photographs and anything already foxed or brittle gets a conservation conversation before we hinge it.

Glass, Acrylic And Spacers

Standard float glass is fine for many jobs. UV-filter glass and UV acrylic cost more but slow light damage and make sense for valuable work, sunny rooms, schools, hotels and anything that will be moved often. Spacers keep glass off pastels, textiles and thick paper surfaces.

How To Buy

The Framing Process

  1. 01

    Bring The Work In

No appointment is needed for simple framing during open hours. There is no minimum order for advice or a mount. Several pictures, fragile paper, large canvases or a tight deadline are better discussed by email first.

  2. 02

    Choose Moulding And Mount

We place real corner samples beside the artwork, check the room it is going into if that matters and price the combination before writing the ticket.

  3. 03

    Deposit And Workshop Build

Orders under £40 are paid in full when booked. Framing over £150 requires a 50% deposit. Standard bespoke framing takes 10-15 working days once choices are agreed.

  4. 04

    Collection Or Delivery

Collect from the bench, or ask about local delivery and hanging. Perth city is £12, within 18 miles is £24 and 19-35 miles starts from £45 by arrangement.

Work Turned Away

Better To Say No Than Spoil It

  • Damp, smoky or actively flaking artwork without a booked assessment, because it must be isolated from other jobs.
  • Same-day bespoke framing for weddings, exhibitions or school shows unless the exact materials are already on the bench.
  • Rush framing is possible only when materials are in stock and adds 25%; the workshop will say no rather than promise a date it cannot keep.
  • Taxidermy cases, weapon displays, sealed entomology boxes and object cases that need specialist sealing.
  • Valuation, authentication or insurance-loss certificates. We frame and repair. We do not certify value.
